How to choose

Start with the size of the job. A battery backpack sprayer pays off once a handheld pump bottle means constant refills, and the 4-Gallon Backpack Sprayer carries 4.2 gallons (16L) at a flow rate of 3.1 L/min with no hand pumping. Next, look at power: the 21V 2.6Ah battery is rated for about 90 minutes of continuous spraying, the included fast charger refills it in about 2.5 hours, and the sprayer shuts itself off at low voltage to protect the battery. If you already own Makita 18V batteries, they fit too. Then match the wand to the mix. Water and neutral solutions go through the telescopic stainless steel wand, while diluted acids and alkalis in the pH 4 to 9 range belong in the plastic wand. Six nozzles cover spot weeding, wide lawn passes, high branches, crop rows and breezy days, and a pressure knob moves the spray from fine mist to a strong jet. Finally, think about your back: the thickened straps adjust for long sessions, and a half-filled tank is easier to carry when the job is small. After each job, flush the tank, pump and wand with clean water so residue doesn't dry in the nozzles. To tidy the same beds before you spray, see OGERY Hedge Trimmers.
